The village of Gigondas is located on the slopes of the dramatic, spiky Dentelles mountains not far from Mount Ventoux. It’s wines are world-renowned for their fruit, spice and power.
Domaine du Pesquier takes its name from the site on which the house and winery is located. The origins of the Pesquier vineyard can be traced back as far as 1556 when the vineyard supplied wines to the Princes of Orange.
Domaine du Pesquier is owned by the Boutière family and dates back to the late 19th century. Guy Boutière and his son, Mathieu manage the vineyard and the winery .The Domaine works 22 hectares of vineyards of which 15 hectares are located within the Gigondas appellation. The domaine cultivates grenache, syrah and mourvèdre grapes.
The Gigondas vineyards encompass a variety of terroir from clay-limestone soils around the winery to poor stoney terraces on the high slopes of the Dentelles.
The complexity and balance of the Domaine’s Gigondas wine is derived from the fact that all the grapes from this range of terroir are used to produce one Gigondas wine.
The Domaine also works seven hectares of vineyards which supply grapes for the Domaine’s Côtes du Rhône, Vacqueyras and Vin de Pays wines.
