DOMAINE LA FOURMONE

Vacqueyras is located on the edge of the Dentelles de Montmarail mountains and has been growing vines and producing wine as far back as the 15th century.

Vines were first cultivated at the Domaine la Fourmone at the end of the 19th century but the Domaine has worked the land on its property since the 17th century. Responsibility for the Domaine has been passed through the generations and is now in the innovative hands of Marie-Therese Combe.

Domaine la Fourmone works 35 hectares of vineyards of which 20 hectares are located in the Vacqueyras appellation. The Domaine cultivates grenache, syrah and mourvédre grapes for its Vacqueyras wines. The remaining 15 hectares of vineyards supply grapes for the Domaine’s Gigondas, Côtes du Rhône and Vin de Pays wines.

The majority of the Domaine la Fourmone’s Vacqueyras grapes are sourced from predominantly sandy, limestone vineyards surrounding the Domaine.

Domaine la Fourmone’s winemaking maximises the characteristics of its vineyards’ terroir such that Mme Combe produces silky, fruity red wines with an enormous amount of finesse. The Domaine also produces a stunning white Côtes du Rhône that is fermented and matured in small oak barrels.
