CHATEAU DU TRIGNON

Perched on top of a hill on the western edge of the Dentelles de Montmarail mountains, the village of Sablet rises imperiously over the renowned vineyards that completely surround it.

Château du Trignon was founded by Joseph Roux in 1896. Over the years the business grew and the cellars were modernized and in 1993 Chateau du Trignon purchased Domaine des Senechaux at Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Ownership of the Château has been passed down the generations and remains within the Roux family. Today, Thierry Caymaris manages the Château’s operations for the family.

Château du Trignon produces high quality fruit driven wines with excellent ageing potential from a large variety of terroir clustered near and around the Dentelles de Montmarail. The Chateau works 60 hectares of vineyards, of which 11 hectares are located in the Sablet appellation.

The Sablet vineyard terroir ranges from low yielding, very stoney soils to richer yellow clay soils. These two very distinct terroir bring characteristics and balance to the Château’s excellent Côtes du Rhône Villages Sablet red and white wines.

Domaine des Sénéchaux vineyards are located on some of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s finest hillsides sites. The red wine is derived from grenache, mourvèdre, syrah and vaccarèse, the majority of which produced from low yielding old vines. The superb white wine is also mainly derived from old vines, of which the varieties are grenache blanc, clairette and bourboulenc and the more recently planted rousanne.
